Bob Ainsworth – Member of Parliament for Coventry North East – yesterday met with Mr Paul Appleton, Coventry City Football Club Limited Administrator. The meeting was at Mr Appleton’s invitation, Bob having previously written to him seeking information and clarification over the administration process and the ongoing investigation.
Following the meeting, Bob said:
“I am pleased that I was afforded the opportunity to raise my concerns with Mr Appleton ahead of any conclusion being reached in the proposed sale process.
“During the meeting I made Mr Appleton aware of my disappointment at the perceived lack of progress in understanding the structure of the Club since the administration process began. I also made him aware of my misgivings about the offer for sale process proceeding in the absence of what I see as complete clarity.
“I am now looking for a further opportunity to raise these issues in Parliament. I am also seeking a meeting with Hugh Robertson MP, Sports Minister, to discuss with him how the administration process works in the world of football.”
